Romania 2001

The first congress of UNESCO Chairs for intercultural understanding took place in Bucharest in the year 2001 and was dedicated to bring these UNESCO Chairs together in order to begin the formation of a common UNITWIN/UNESCO network.
Professor Martin Hauser, Fribourg and Bucharest University, was given the mandate to undertake the coordination of the future network. The partaking Chairs in this congress insisted upon their specific academic orientation which was due to be entirely conserved within the future network.
