UNESCO Chair on Science and Spirituality

 

The UNESCO Chair on Science and Spirituality at the Institute of Oriental Studies was officially opened in autumn 2002. Since then the UNESCO Chair initiated and has been conducting several projects.

The UNESCO Chair benefits from the association with the Institute of Oriental Studies since the Institute has various research and institutional relations with many institutions in and outside Kazakhstan, especially in the Central Asian region (including even Turkmenistan) and the world.
The type of activity of the Kazakhstan UNESCO Chair is fully interconnected with the activity shown in the Project Proposal to Establish the UNITWIN Network. That is why the proposed activity of the Kazakhstan Chair could easily become an integral part of the Project Proposal.

The main idea of the Chair is to preserve the balance between scientific and spiritual approaches while dealing with contemporary or historical problems. And the motto of the Chair, which proclaims “the unity in diversity”, fully reflects the current situation in the world nowadays. It is becoming the formula leading to survival and mutual understanding in a multicultural and global world.
